Yoga is an opportunity for infinite learning, transformation and joy. While yoga is deeply rooted in centuries-old tradition, new ideas and information continuously arise, allowing us to adapt this ancient practice to the needs of modern day living. As change is the only constant, yoga provides us the tools to stay grounded while we evolve. Like any profession, it’s up to the teacher to stay current with emerging knowledge and materials. Likewise, it’s just as important for a teacher to be versed in the ideas, principles and texts that yoga was founded upon. We at the Institute of Integrated Yoga Therapy are the newest school to the Greensboro area, yet we as the teacher trainers, have many years of experience in teaching mind-body practices to include yoga, yoga therapy, pilates, and TRE.
We are about to embark on our third year of a 200 hour yoga teacher training for this foundational level for yoga teaching certification, accredited by the Yoga Alliance. This 200 hour program is the first level of training in any yoga school and is open to all yogis embarking on a journey to deepen their practice, and to teach yoga. About one third of students in such programs are attracted to this course of study for the sake of delving deeper along their own yoga journey. Once any one has successfully completed a teacher training at this level, they can become registered with Yoga Alliance, and begin to teach yoga! It is considered essential to not only be certified but also to be registered to teach yoga, as the responsibility of a teacher includes a recognition of having learned certain specific competencies that cover liability and allow the teacher to teach more than just yoga asana (the practice of poses).
Furthermore, our graduates learn to teach people, not poses. They learn to really look at and listen to their students, and guide with compassion, with intelligence and with awareness of responsibility, ethical principles, and care. They learn to incorporate many yogic tools like meditation, pranayama, mudra, sound healing, and study a comprehensive list of tests/books. We help each individual yoga teacher trainee in finding their authentic voice and teaching style, while meeting the parameters of an Iyengar –influenced teacher.
We have developed an attractive program with an easily accessible time-table, especially great for parents, teachers, students, as the required study time over a period of 8 months is 5 weekends and one week. Consider joining us for this year’s study!

They knew that one day they would create a yoga school that was oriented on Yoga Therapy and the integration of their life’s study & journey would come to be, this is IIYT, an integration of eastern & western modalities, blended together to empower individuals to progress toward improved health and balance.
The Institute of Integrated Yoga Therapy is comprised of 5 schools, training yoga students of all levels and abilities. What is a Yoga Therapist?
Yoga Therapists are yoga teachers who have additional training in therapeutic applications of yoga and other wellness modalities, offering a multi-dimensional look at each individual and their wellness. They traditionally work one on one or in a small group setting organized for specific issues or medical conditions.
Yoga Therapy is often tailored to ones individual health needs; it is organized around balance & wellness for the body, soul & spirit. It is very common for the yoga therapist to integrate yoga to compliment the many different therapies and modalities in western healthcare, massage & Bowen therapy Ayurvedic principles and mental health counseling services.
The Yoga Therapist is that wellness professional that has the unique ability to apply the knowledge, listening skills, the integration of healthcare modalities of wellness & balance, and all around coach to lead one toward their journey of empowering their healing process.
