Join certified yoga therapist Mona Flynn for a 1-hour yoga class based on research showing yoga’s effect on improved mobility, bone density, stress reduction and more. This Chair Yoga class will include improvised yoga poses, preparations for poses, modifications and specific transitions. These classes will effectively and safely reduce joint stiffness and build strength and mobility, alongside breathing practices to help manage stress and pain, mindfulness practices to build resilience and peace of mind, and other yogic tools for a comprehensive yoga therapy practice. You will need a yoga mat, a sturdy chair, a yoga block, a 6 to 10 foot strap, a small ball and on occasion we will use a flat stretch band. You may have other props that you can substitute. You must have the ability to stand without assistance. The class will combine both standing and seated segments of practice. Mona will educate on the meaning and science behind these practices and ways you can continue to improvise and supplement at home to maintain the benefits of how you use yoga in your daily life.
